Fata Morgana is an atmospheric phenomenon that causes objects near the horizon to appear as if they floated above the water. I guess the artist was thinking about that when they chose the album title because that’s how most of the songs feel, floaty. Even in songs like soulless cycle which had some punk riffs, the guitar felt soft, almost like being behind glass.

The album is definitely experimental. I was caught very off guard when I was listening to July 5th and all of a sudden it switched to a sort of pop instrumental with reggae vocals. While not being particularly catchy, they are quite good. You can hear all of the instruments, behind, left, right, everywhere. All layered on top of each other while remaining clear. That is my favorite part of this album.

I don’t think I’ll be coming back to listen to this album. Except for birthday, that song flows beautifully. And it has some catch to it. It’s good, but I just couldn’t find enough memorable moments to come back to.
